enchant a ring, necklace and gauntlets to increase smithing along with blacksmith potions and u will b a beast!! blacksmith potions r few and none,if u can make em great if not ive found them more often in the riften potion maker and markarths. What gives? If i smith something different like orc armor or something will that make it rise faster? You can buy iron ores and leather stripes from any blacksmith, I usually go to the Whiterun blacksmiths, the one right by the entrance on the right and the one by the Companions base, uptop. Trouble is you either need to be an Orc, or to do the Malacath daedric quest to become 'Blood kin' to the orcs, in order to gain access without slaughtering the whole stronghold. You get the Malacath quest at the orc Stronghold to the west of Riften

This also means that only normal-level tempering of iron items is possible (there is no perk that provides the ability to "improve them twice as much"). 1 Iron Ingot is needed at Workbenches to improve all varieties of Iron armor (Except Banded Iron armor and Banded Iron shields, which require 1 Corundum ingot), Ancient Nord armor, guards' armor, as well as numerous unique items and artifacts

Details on the best places to find each type of ore are provided on the individual ore pages: Corundum Ebony Gem GeodesDB Gold Heart Stone DepositDB Iron Malachite Moonstone Orichalcum Quicksilver Silver Soul Gem Geode (yielding Soul Gems) StalhrimDB (can only be mined with an ancient Nordic pickaxe) Note that Steel and Dwarven ore do not exist: Dwarven Metal Ingots are obtained by smelting Dwemer metal, and Steel Ingots by smelting one Corundum Ore and one Iron Ore. Every vein contains three ore, and all three will be added to your inventory if you mine long enough, but you will not receive a notification on your screen when the second one is extracted

Just do what Throe said and clear some dungeons for loot and buy the ingots.Just wondering, how far into the game is this character you're using? I ask because it takes less than 500 ingots smithing iron daggers when using the xp bonuses that are scattered about. Making nothing but Iron Daggers and Hide Bracers, you can get Smithing up pretty high relatively easily.I was buying iron ingots from the smith in Whiterun, waiting 48 hours for him to restock, and repeating this
