Economist's View: Social Security

Their strategy was derived from the conclusion that it would not be possible to make major cuts to social security and Medicare through the normal congressional process because these programs are too popular. It was instead a sort of declaration of identity, a way to show that you were an establishment guy, willing to impose pain (on other people, as usual) in the name of fiscal responsibility

With the change between Wachovia and Wells Fargo - what was a waived annual fee when i set up the account - got thrown into being flagged as a fee account when Wells took over Wachovia which the representative no longer had control over it being waived because their policy had changed and i am no longer exempt. You must have had something to do with your losses? Didn't you read your statements, or look at your confirms? I guess there is always two sides to every story, then there is the truth

Comment June 2, 2014 wyntier I had an account at Wells Fargo for a couple years, nut they had this annoying habit of charging fees if you didn't have enough activity in the account. They do have a limit on the number of transfers from your savings account (which I guess is supposed to encourage you to save), but I never have any issues because all the money I put into my savings stays there unless I have a true emergency

My advice, although no one asked, is very basic; save early, spend less, invest wisely in financial assets, education, tools, and some real stuff, including land. Reply SKRL February 12, 2014, 2:58 pm HI MMM, Going through all the blogs from the beginning. This needs to be done BEFORE you eat anything fancier than a baked potato, because you are in the most ridiculous financial situation any reader has sent me since starting this blog four years ago

So, just in case the President or Congress or the Comptroller of the Currency or the new Treasury secretary or any entity in the entire nation with legal power cares, the banks are STILL SCREWING OVER HOMEOWNERS AND STEALING HOUSES. Encourage them to take their money out of the big banks and to look beyond polarizing sound-bites to demand fairness and justice from their elected officials

I immediately notified the buyer (who has the account at Wells Fargo) and he immediately notified Wells Fargo (within 4 hours) The two of us went to Wells Fargo to discuss the situation with the bank manager. (I need to get accurate information on this.) ANYONE can purchase the security bond -- not only the person with the account at WF or the person who initiated the first check...and a number of institutions offer them

How do I go about cashing in these bonds? After reading the posts above I would like some direction on how to cash these in considering it is in my name. When you have to decide which Series HH bonds you will redeem, consider the interest rate each of your bonds is currently paying, how long each bond will pay that rate, and when each bond will mature

I took a look on the off chance that I lost some savings bonds of my own. When you use Treasury Hunt, you plug in your Social Security number and other information online to find savings bonds that reached final maturity and are no longer earning interest. It's not an overly cumbersome process and if there's money to be found, it's worth it.About six weeks or so after the paperwork was sent, I received a phone call

You also need your driver's license number. It can take time to carefully type in numbers, write down answers for three security questions, select a personalized image and caption, and retrieve two e-mails from Treasury for the account number and one-time password. If you're buying a bond online as a gift, you'd need the recipient's Social Security number, too. When you log into your account, there is a "Purchase Express" option. Red letters on this feature say: "NOT for gift bond purchases."How do you buy a gift bond? I dug for the Treasury's tip sheet, which was useful.Watch that "Add Registration" line near the top

Wells Fargo PMA vs other "premier relationship" accounts

19, 2007 @ 1:02p If you want to know how they compare to other banks, you could at least list the benefits for your WF account (or a link from WF site). 19, 2007 @ 2:22p It was just a simple question, really:Has anyone had experience with a Wells Fargo PMA account and compared it to their experience with a premier account from B of A, Citibank, HSBC, or any of the other large banks? If you haven't had a chance to make real-life comparisons, then there's no need to respond
