Instead of showing that little menu, it had a text box saying that the HDD has been corrupted and possibly may of picked up some sort of worm virus and I must immediately remove my HDD. Maybe an interruption in the connection perhaps but I would guess that some part of the code or similar issue has happened causing the system not to read it properly

In fact, the PS3 will only read FAT32 formatted storage devices where as a PC will read FAT32 and NTFS (MAC computers will only read FAT32 as well).There are many different programs you can use to format HDDs, such as Paragon Partition Manager
