Before choosing a photo to send, read the next question: Why does dcraw output have a green tint and weak color? Because dcraw doesn't have a color matrix for your camera model, it outputs raw color instead of sRGB. Libraries are more difficult to modify, build, install, and test than standalone programs, and so are inappropriate for file formats that change every day

However, there are many better cameras out there, including similarly priced models like the Canon SX230 HS, which also has full PSAM modes to help take beginners further. Compare the Nikon L610 to other cameras in the Face-Off The L610 lens lacks a little consistency at wide-angle but sharpness levels are excellent in the middle of the frame

(60 frames per second is very rare, on anything other than a dedicated camcorder.) You even have the option to create low-resolution (320 by 240) slow motion video, capturing 240 frames per second

If, like me, you want a very versatile camera that will be very useable in most situations, produce fantastic quality images and is highly portable then you won't go far wrong. For some time I was in heaven, but then I recollected my experience with Fuji cameras, HS10 and HS20, good image quality but lousy stabilization, no digital zoom, stiff zoom ring ( very bad to use in video ), hope they change all that

The only slight let-down is that in very quiet scenes the noise of the zoom lens is picked up in the background, as well as some other slight noises from the camera controls. Apart from getting rid of coloured fringes, the image is also sharper, and the lens (which is lifted straight from the SX30) finally comes into its own

Nikon COOLPIX S9100 Easy panorama Click image to access original at Flickr If you've ever used the iSweep panorama mode on a Cyber-shot compact, that tells you pretty much all you need to know about how the new Easy panorama mode on the COOLPIX S9100 works. Like the Cyber-shot HX9V, which has the same resolution, it's slightly lacking in contrast, though, which makes it a little more difficult to see in bright outdoors conditions

LEARN MORE Why the Nikon D7200 is shaping up to be our favorite enthusiast DSLR this year LEARN MORE The Fujifilm XP80 can certainly stand up to the elements--but can the images stand up to the competition? LEARN MORE Images blurry? Learn how to prevent it (or use it to your advantage) with shutter speed. Canon equipped it with their High Sensitivity system -- the marketing lingo for a backlit CMOS sensor (which we can also thank for the nimble performance) paired with a Digic 4 image processor

There's a hint of chromatic aberrations, but otherwise, details in bright light are crisp without resorting to excessive digital sharpening The 28-392mm (equivalent) focal length range isn't as flexible as with many of its rivals, but superior focus and low noise meant the SX230 HS was just as capable at resolving detail in distant subjects as the 18x Nikon S9100 and even the 24x Olympus SZ-30MR. This telephoto shot in shady conditions pushes up the ISO speed to 1600 to avoid blur, but noise remains impressively low while still maintaining a reasonable amount of detail The lens pulls its weight, too, with sharp focus into the corners of frames throughout its 14x zoom range

When ever you switch the camera flash also gets on irrespective of the light condition which is bit annoying even if you disable the flash also that more or less in the place where you left hand generally. I had them all and as I said before getting a good Nikon S9100 is a lottery, so I got lucky with mine but even so that camera has serious focusing problems at long zoom
Canon SX220 HS vs SX230 HS - Our Analysis

Ferdi (10:32 AM, September 10, 2011) the 220 works with the CHDK while the 230 doesn't.This means that you can save your pictures in RAW format only with the 220.This is a must have feature that makes me choose the 220 over the 230; I don't care about a built in GPS that drains the battery in a few hours

Like most other 2011 Canon compacts the PowerShot SX230 HS features the new Creative filter modes, special effects that include faux fish-eye, miniature (tilt-shift), Toy camera (vignette), Super vivid, Poster, Colour accent and Colour replace effects. The focus is spot on throughout the handheld zoom and image stabilisation, though it doesn't iron out all the wobbles, is a big improvement on unstabilised hand-held footage
