For starters, after the update your device will loose auto Bluetooth capability which means that every time you get into your vehicle, you would have to connect your phone manually to the stereo. If you want to try Download mode - with the phone completely off, press and hold the Volume Down and Home and Power buttons simultaneously, and release them all when you see the Samsung splash screen. If you're not comfortable with the above then your best bet is to take it to the local carrier store and see if they can recover it for you or replace it
