Some people with Intel graphics had better results by uninstalling the graphics driver, rebooting, and letting Windows look for a driver -- instead of downloading the driver from the Dell support site. How do I setup my NVIDIA based graphics card to work with my HDTV?
If you are using an NVIDIA graphics card with a built in NVIDIA HD audio codec, you will see "NVIDIA High Definition Audio" in the list of playback devices in the Sound properties. If you have a graphics card with internal NVIDIA HD audio codec, simply plug the HDMI audio cable from your graphics card to your HDTV and it will carry both video and audio

AMD HDMI Output 'not plugged in', no sound
I sucessfully got bootcamp to work on my iMac, and the only issue that I have run across is that I do not have any sound whatsoever coming out of my speakers. The cable works fine with the xbox, correct tv modes, but now as soon as I plug in the HDMI to the Ultrabook the Ultrabooks screen goes black and the tv screen says unsupported

You can confirm this by heading back to the Device Manager to ensure that the error for the item under "Sound, video and game controllers", and you'll notice now too that it has a new name, such as "Intel HD Audio" or similair. Is this a Windows problem? I find it strange that Nvidia CP can recognize the unit and marks it as audio-capable, but Windows says a cable is unplugged.
