My customer wanted to keep his satellite receiver (optical out only) near his tv but his surround sound receiver was located in his closet down the hall. The first one I bought several years ago is still in use I simply had a need for a second one and once again this does the trick! If you have device(s) which put out only TosLink as the digital audio and need to convert it to RCA, get this device! I'm very happy with both of mine
