I think the respawn is actually a week, but if you're on PC, just open console, select the ore vein, hit disable, then enable, and you should be able to mine

Just do what Throe said and clear some dungeons for loot and buy the ingots.Just wondering, how far into the game is this character you're using? I ask because it takes less than 500 ingots smithing iron daggers when using the xp bonuses that are scattered about. Making nothing but Iron Daggers and Hide Bracers, you can get Smithing up pretty high relatively easily.I was buying iron ingots from the smith in Whiterun, waiting 48 hours for him to restock, and repeating this
