The Politics of Red Lines - In These Times
http://inthesetimes.com/article/16631/russia_ukraine_noam_chomsky
Based on what premise is it so? Chomsky acknowledges powerfully with his simple statement that Russia's act was ILLEGAL, but there are other issues which determine international realities. What's happening in Ukraine isn't about the USA; it's about a nation of 45 million people that wants an end to poverty and corruption which seeks to build a more democratic country with greater respect for human rights that is being punished by an aggressive neighbor for daring to challenge the status quo.I actually agree with most of Chomsky's points but disagree with his assessment of Ukraine because it seems as though in criticizing the USA's condemnation of Russia's actions he has forgotten Ukraine and it's people in the process

In fact, as you have no doubt read, Crimea was legally part of Russia until 1954, the year after Stalin died and Nikita Khrushchev ascended to the Communist Party leadership. "....would it be a good idea, assuming the transfer of Crimea comes about, to offer a program of time-limited duration to resettle, in Ukraine, residents of of Crimea that would prefer not to be governed by Russia and to make a similar offer to ethnic Russians living in what remains of Ukraine but who would rather be living under Russian rule." This sounds suspiciously like ethnic cleansing

I am afraid for our future, as we seem to have fallen into dangerous self-confidence and do not understand those that have been subjected to genocide from the West. How can one criticize the Ukrainians for siding with the Nazis? Who else was going to help them at that time? You do recall a little thing called the Holodomor that the Soviets perpetrated on the Ukrainians

From the mid-1970s onwards, many such mutilations of animals, and accompanying sightings of UFOs and unmarked helicopters, occurred in the vicinity of the northern New Mexico town of Dulce. And, in the very same way that rumors, accounts and whistleblower testimony suggests recovered alien spacecraft are being studied and test-flown at Area 51, Nevada, similar tales surround Zhitkur
Russian Strategic Bombers On West Coast: Did They Take Down Los Angeles Air Traffic Control Systems?

when the FAA figured out that this was the cause, they immediately sent out a notice to all centers around the country to cease using VFR on top for these type of flights. it is shipped by barge out to San Nicholas island to be stored there. The carrier pilots will come to San Nick to refuel before continuing their landings and take off.The time Reagan got the word to go to assist the cruise ship there was a F-18 on deck refueling at San Nick.He was going to go back there but because the ship had sailed over the horizon he did not know where it was.So, to get high enough for the ship to see him on radar and the fact he had a full load of fuel he did what any jet jockey would do.As soon as he left the runway he pulled it back and hit the afterburners and went straight up! THAT IS WHAT WAS FILMED THAT DAY! He had to get high enough so they could vector him back to the ship

Is World Nuclear War Inevitable?
http://carolmoore.net/nuclearwar/
"The Strategic Missile Forces have been and remain a most important factor in the deterrence of aggressive aspirations and intentions toward Russia and our allies," the Interfax news agency quoted Ivanov as saying at the base in Kartaly, in the Chelyabinsk region. Speaking at a joint press conference with Tony Blair at Camp David, the US president was asked whether, if coalition forces were subjected to a chemical weapons attack by Saddam Hussein, the US would use its nuclear capability

Both Suvorov and Golitsyn insisted that a) the "collapse", while temporarily necessary, was being used as a ruse, to misdirect the West, and that b), the Russians always had long term plans for a first strike. Kennedy met with a small group of advisors and agreed to send an oral message to the Soviet Union's ambassador in Washington, delivered by his brother Robert, promising that the US would not invade Cuba and that the missiles in Turkey would be removed. Otherwise, security for the Americans as well as people of the Soviet Union, was dependent upon the good measure, caution and emotional stability possessed by Khrushchev and Kennedy

7 Reasons Why America Will Never Go To War Over Ukraine - Forbes

What would Ronald Reagan have done if the Soviets had invaded West Germany? Barack Obama would face more or less the same question in a Baltic crisis, or if a Ukraine conflict spills over into fellow NATO member Poland. I mean, if you look back at the Cuban Missile Crisis, it was nothing short of a miracle that Kennedy and Khrushchev were able to pool together enough grey matter to avert disaster

U.S. Building Russian Cruise Missile Defense System

While a pre-emptive strike from Russia would seem to be extremely unlikely considering the military and nuclear capabilities of the United States, any measures against this option would seemingly make practical sense for the US government and nation as a whole. With Russia having been selected for the 2018 World Cup, Putin evidently believes that the US wishes to diminish the international position of Russia by attempting to encourage the international community to hold this tournament elsewhere
