OT: Concrete Mix ratios for plaster coat ?
Why do you folks use cement based plaster indoors instead of Gypsum based? I can understand cement based renders on the outside of a house, but indoors doesn't seem to need it. So wondering what Mix ratios I should use for the plaster coat? And how coarse or fine should the aggregate be? I've been reading online and learnt that the lower the water ratio, the stronger the concrete
Variability in the ingredients themselves From year to year, the ingredients you use can vary, even if you buy the same ingredient from the same manufacturer. A craftsman who has experience in acid stained concrete floors is often a good candidate to apply his or her skill to acid staining concrete countertops
Constituent Materials of Concrete - InterNACHI
The bond strength of fine aggregates is not affected much by the shape or texture of the aggregate, since smaller particles offer a large amount of surface area at which bonding to the cement paste can take place. Very fine particles of fly ash can improve the flow characteristics of concrete, reduce costs by replacing cement, require less water in the mix, and make concrete more dense

In fact, a couple days ago an architect from Texas suggested we format our csi division pages (division 04) so that, visually, it is easier to find the section you are looking for
These chemicals alter a number of properties of cementitious systems, including hydration behavior, and it has been long understood by practitioners that these systems can differ widely in response to such chemicals. In this paper the impact on hydration of several classes of chemicals is reviewed with an emphasis on the current understanding of interactions with cement chemistry
Variability of cement
If a cement has a different particle size, there will evidently be no point in looking at the cement composition for the cause if a problem has arisen with the cement mill. The fineness to which the cement is ground will evidently affect the rate at which concrete strengths increase after mixing. Effect of alkalis on strength Much of the clinker sulfate is present as alkali sulfate, usually in the form of aphthitalite (Na2SO4), arcanite (K2SO4) or calcium langbeinite (2CaO.K2O.SO3) , or a mixture of some or all of these
animal waste and by-products), chemical and hazardous waste, and petroleum-based fuels.Biofuels are from organic origin (plants or animals based) including organic waste, residues from agriculture and energy crops, meat and bone-meal, methane from animal excrement or as a result of bacterial action, ethanol and biodiesel from plant materials, as well as the organic part of waste. Smaller chips and fragments of devolatilised chips levitate much more easily and are carried over before their combustion is complete in the precalciner
Construction material cement
If the penetration of plunger in the paste is less than the 33 to 35 mm from the top of the mould, prepare the trial paste with increasing percentage of water and repeat the above mentioned procedure until the plunger penetrate to a depth of 33 to 35 mm from the top or 5 to 7 mm from the bottom of mould. Determine the time taken by the manometer liquid to fall from second mark from the top to the third mark on the, manometer when air is allowed to permeate through the compacted cement 4

ACC Limited
ACC 53 Grade OPC provides high strength and durability to structures because of its optimum particle size distribution, superior crystalline structure and balanced phase composition. PSC has many superior performance characteristics which give it certain extra advantages when compared to Ordinary Portland Cement It is available in specially designed 50-kg bags
The finishing operations should not begin until the water sheen on the surface is gone and excess bleed water on the surface has had a chance to evaporate. Portland cement is not a brand name, but the generic term for the type of cement used in virtually all concrete, just as stainless is a type of steel and sterling a type of silver
Why Concrete Pipe?
It would be inconceivable to replace a concrete roadway surface one year and reach the material service life of an underground culvert the next, necessitating an early re-replacement of the road. Concrete pipe installations using trench boxes do not require special attention to sliding the trench box and disturbing the bedding and backfill in the process, referenced by all installation standards and recommendations of manufacturers
(7) AIR ENTRAINING CEMENT:This type of cement was first of all developed in U.S.Ato produce such concrete which would have resistanceto weathering actions and particularly to the action offrost. In this test, three mouldsof (face area 50 cm2) are prepared and cured understandard temperature conditions and each cubetested by placing it between movable jaws of thecompressive strength testing machine
A location on the specimen is selected at a relatively low magnification (250-500X), and then the SEM is programmed to automatically scan over the selected image taking thousands of x-ray measurements in a regular grid pattern. The raw mix enters at the upper end of the kiln and slowly works its way downward to the hottest area at the bottom over a period of 60-90 minutes, undergoing several different reactions as the temperature increases
How to Make Alternatives to Portland Cement - Howtopedia - english
Limes with high calcium content, often called 'fat' or 'white' limes are desirable for most industries, although the construction industry can use limes containing impurities. The Pont du Gard at Nimes in France, a Roman aqueduct built in AD 18 with hydraulic lime-based mortar, is still waterproof; the excellence of the mortar is attributed to the selection of the materials and to the time spent tamping the mix into place during construction
